Why is it a "Fever Dream" Boutique?
Hello! My name is Emily Eileen and I'm the designer, sewist, upcycler, order packer, shipper, and dreamer behind Fever Dream Boutique. I am a 29-year-old chronically ill creative with an affinity for kitsch, lovecore, floral prints, pastel color schemes, and fairy kei fashion. I started my store on Etsy in 2015 to channel the ideas that frequently came to me in the midst of the sleepless night I spent in pain. It became an escape from the daily realities of autoimmune while I was in university and struggling to find my place in the world. The "fever" refers to the constant low grade fevers I ran growing up with Crohn's disease and pays homage to the role chronic illness has played in making me who I am.
Fever Dream Boutique continues to be the main outlet for an ever-changing view of my own creative capabilities and passion for making beautiful things in an ableist world. This one-person business allows me to share my enthusiasm for upcycling unique thrifted and secondhand materials to reduce textile waste, my growing interest in being the only woman in this generation of my family who will be able to carry on my family's legacy of quilting, and continued passion for ridiculously adorable fashion.
Since 2015 I've done many markets and pop-up events as well as had my products stocked in local boutiques in my beautiful home state of Ohio and my new (slightly sunnier) home state of Arizona. Today I am primarily an online business right here. So if you've been looking for me over my couple year hiatus, you have found the right place! Feel free to contact me directly if you or your local business is interested in stocking my handmade items.
